The Problem With Covering Up Mold
Mold is a perfect example of an allergen that can be in your home. Most of my clients are in the South Florida Area and have to deal with high humidity on a constant basis. High humidity encourages mold to grow. A lot of the foreclose homes that we are inspecting now have contaminated Air Conditioning Systems. This is because the Banks or Realtors are not leaving the A/C on or are setting the temperature too high to properly remove the humidity.
Leaking pipes and plumbing are a huge hot spot for mold spores to pop up. It is best to do a quick check every three to six months around your home to look for wet spots or condensation build up. Pockets of water develop quickly. It is best to prevent them but if this is not the case catching them early will eliminate mold.
Once you have control over the moisture getting in and out of your homes structure lets look at problems that can exist inside. Uncontrolled humidity in the home can lead to many different problems. If installing a new heating and cool system check to see if you can add a dehumidifier onto the system. If this is not an option you can purchase a dehumidifier at your local store. Adding a ceiling or exhaust fan to areas in your home, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and basements also helps control the humidity levels.
The growth of these molds can be quite harmful for your health. Lots of people do not understand how to clean up these molds. Mold cleaning is actually easy with the right kind of tools.
Availability is very important as you look for water damage experts. Most might be available 24/7, but it is important to find out how fast the response time is. If you have major flooding in your home, every minute counts. The longer you wait, the more items will be damaged beyond repair and the more likely it is that you will end up needing mold remediation. Mildew and other mold will pop up quickly during warmer months in particular.
Mold is a toxic substance and when you let it to produce out of control you hurt your health and the health of your kids. This will make it tricky for you to breathe and will travel into the upper stories of the place. The best way to prevent this from coming about is to fix the troubles that are causing it.
Have your home evaluated by a professional with lots of experience in this type of problem or you will have a serious mold problem long term. I constantly see this happen because of incompetence in the construction field. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of very competent contractors who do excellent work. There is an old saying in this field: Don't allow workmen in your home on Friday afternoon or Monday morning. Enough said about this.
